Well, it took a long time, but Tim Pool has finally come round to my position—we are dealing with fascists.
These ruthless authoritarians (my definition) control most of our major institutions (the Democrats, the big globalist corporations, the big social media companies ("Silicon Valley"), the corporate-owned TV/print media, Wall Street, the prestigious universities, Hollywood, the security ("deep") state bureaucrats). This is alarming to say the least.
People are generally confused about what fascism means because of 70 years of biased academic social studies. These studies originated in the Frankfurt school (Max Horkheimer, Theodor Adorno and rest). In the post-war period in the United States, those people were Marxists who escaped Hitler's Germany or Europe generally in the 1930s and early 1940s. Simplifying, to them a fascist was somebody who unquestionably followed a strong nationalistic leader (an "authoritarian personality"). To them, nobody on the political "left" (socialists, maoists, communists) could ever be a fascist because, given their bias, their definitions excluded all those groups.
For example, watch this short video of Jason Stanley, a Yale philosopher and one of the most confused, delusional people on Earth. Stanley is sure that Donald Trump is a fascist, though Trump has never acted in an authoritarian way, even when severely provoked. If he were a fascist, he would have sent the military to Portland, Seattle and many other places to put down the BLM/Antifa riots by overwhelming violent force. He did nothing of the sort. In fact, Trump wants to deregulate the economy to the economic benefit of working people. That's the opposite of what an authoritarian would do. Trump is actually like a 1990s democrat.
As the Stanley video shows, confusion about fascism is still pretty much academic gospel today. Actually, things are much, much worse at universities today. Critical race theory teaches anti-racism, and as with all totalitarian equations, Anti-Racism = Racism (just as War = Peace, Freedom = Slavery, Ignorance = Strength).
In particular, Tim now understands the "duck test"—
If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it is almost certainly a duck.
Substitute the word "fascist" for the word "duck" and you will understand what you need to know here. Watch below as Tim struggles with his new understanding of the political world we live in.
I love Tim for one simple reason: Tim loves the Truth and hates the Lie. People like Tim are very rare in this world. One identifying characteristic of fascists is that they lie all the time about everything political.
CNN? Lies. New York Times? Fake News. And on and on. Tim often says journalism is dead. He's mostly right. On the other hand propaganda and disinformation is a thriving industry.
And Tim hates that. Tim reads everything, which means that I don't have to. He could perform that service for you too, if you would only take the time to watch his daily reports.
The Good News is that knowing what's going on and having a proper understanding of the existential threat against us is half the battle.
The Bad News is that it's only half the battle. The other half we have to do ourselves. In the video, Tim says (shortly after the 12:00 mark)—
You wanna know who the resistance is? It's you and me.
Damn right. Tim is King in the North, the tip of that spear. Know the difference. Support Tim and all true anti-fascists everywhere.
