A Unique Opportunity

I have issued a general amnesty to people who have been banned from commenting on DOTE.

This presents some people with a unique opportunity—they can be banned twice!

Comments on this blog give me a window into who the author is, his or her depth of understanding, and how conscious the author is. I can tell a lot about a person from just a few remarks, both in print and in everyday life. You should bear this in mind.

Comments are moderated after the fact. If you don't supply a working e-mail address, you are subject to banishment at any time.

Here are the new rules regarding comment content. These rules are permanent and unalterable.

• Comments by Doomers will be deleted and the Doomer in question will be banned. Doomers are not welcome here, and they are easy to spot.

• Comments rejecting (out of hand) well-described and generally accepted scientific results which I have cited will be deleted and the authors will be banned. This is the "climate change-denier" clause, but is generally applicable (evolution, etc.).

• Comments of a religious nature will be deleted.

• Authors who claim to have some kind of superior "spiritual knowledge" will be banned.

• Comments which display an obvious, basic misunderstanding of what I wrote may be deleted. Comments which display incoherent insanity will be deleted and the author will be banned. The author's may be subject to ridicule by me, depending on my mood. I may embarrass you, so be careful what you say.

• Comments which attack me personally will be deleted and author will be banned.

• Those making hate comments (bigotry, etc.) will be banned and the comment will be deleted.

• The authors of comments which flatly contradict what I wrote but offer no argument or evidence to back it up may be subject to ridicule from me. I may or may not delete those comments. (See above).

Bear in mind that reading DOTE is and will always be free. However, I do not have to take punishment from the denizens of Planet Stupid simply because I appear to be an easy target and something I've said has upset them.

When you comment on DOTE, this is the implicit contract you sign. This is not a democracy (and either is the United States ).
