This first Remedy du Jour of 2013 features jazz pianist Keith Jarrett, who has been making great music since the 1970s when he recorded for the European jazz label ECM. Jarrett often plays in a trio setting, but is also known for his long, meditative solo work. I've included some of that today. To me, this music is perfect for a quiet, cold and overcast winter's day.
Jarrett is very animated when he plays, and tends to make various sounds as he goes along, so don't get taken by surprise. Here's the playlist.
- My Song — his best-known tune from the album of that name, with saxophonist Jan Garbarek (1978)
- Koln Concert, Part I — solo in concert, from the album of that name (1975)
- I Loves You, Porgy — Gershwin's tune, live, solo, from The Melody At Night, With You (1999)
- Vienna Concert, Part I — solo in concert, from the album of that name (1992)
You are welcome. I will keep this in mind for a future post topic. :)
