The problem is that for the world as a whole, not having a pot to piss in is the norm and is very much permitted. With globalization, corporations can pay little to nothing for labor overseas. Along with talking about income inequality, politicians also need to talk about 'free' trade. If our country ships entire industries overseas and is then incapable of making those products, it's really not 'free trade' any more, is it? It is then forced trade. Politicians are also afraid of dealing with the incentives corporations get for shipping these jobs overseas.
