I have gotten away from the music which I like in these Saturday remedies. You know, the stuff I listen to.
I'm going to get back on track today, starting with Pat Metheny. I don't like Pat just because he's a guitar virtuoso and I'm a guitar player too. I like Pat because he's a great composer and arranger, and it's those qualities which bring me back to his music again and again. Here's the playlist.
- Are You Going With Me? (live, with Lyle Mays and friends, from the album Offramp)
- Letter From Home (live on the Today Show in 1989, from the album Letter From Home)
- Ferry Cross The Mersey (solo guitar arrangement of the 1960s hit by Gerry and The Pacemakers)
- Last Train Home (live, from the album Still Life, Talking — so beautiful)
Thanks for this Dave.
I can't agree more. I won't be sad to see the end of the vast bulk of "our" species, but when there's no more electricity to listen to Pat Metheny, the rest of the universe will be so much poorer. I had the great fortune to see him live twice, and he played Into The Dream to send me into some kind of rapture.
