I linked to a story on my blog yesterday about how gasoline consumption in the U.S. has now fallen to 2001 levels. Four years after we reached the top of the initial peak oil price spike, domestic demand is gradually being destroyed as the economy continues its slow downward grind. Absent a major shock to the system, I agree that this state of affairs could continue for a long time to come.
