Happy New Year! Let't go back to 1972. I remember the first time I heard Stevie Wonder's Talking Book. I was blown away. The first tune on the album turned out to be strangely relevant to my life several times over
Maybe your baby
Done made some other plans
On a similar theme, I was listening to French jazz singer Stacey Kent, who sings When Your Lover Is Gone. Great tune. If you like the style of this one, you'll like her work generally. In thinking about our prospects in the new year, Traffic's Dear Mr. Fantasy just popped into my head, so I had to play it today.
Let's finish up with the obvious thing—U2's classic New Years Day. It's still as great as the first time I heard it. The Edge is still one of my favorite Rock & Roll guitar players, the man's a genius. Bono is still Bono, there's nothing to be done about it. Enjoy.
