We need some relief after a week like this last one. A long time ago in the early 1980s, we wanted our MTV! Dire Straits starts us off with Money For Nothing (1985). Next up is a behind the scenes look at Brad Mehldau recording his latest album Highway Rider. The first tune playing intermittently in the background is John Boy from that album, which you can hear uninterrupted in its entirety at YouTube. For my money Brad Mehldau is among the very best jazz musicians working today. It's too bad the great Jazz Era (pre-1970) is all but gone. Mehldau would have been great during any era. Support your local jazz musicians!
The film clip is the opening 10 minutes of Woody Allen's Broadway Danny Rose. Woody has made far more movies than good movies, but the good ones are really quite excellent. Almost all of the good ones are pre-1990. Broadway Danny Rose was made in 1984. If you'd like to keep watching, go to part 2 at YouTube.
