We've got some real good stuff on this week's remedy for what ails us. First up is Randy Newman playing Guilty as recorded live in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, 1979. (You may have to turn the volume up on this one.) Second we've got Dave Grusin doing In the Middle Of The Night from his 1989 album Migration. Aside from being a great jazz musician, Dave has long been one of the best film composers in the business. I had the pleasure of seeing him live a number of times at the Conference on World Affairs held each April at the University Of Colorado in Boulder, where I used to live.
The film clip is from the late, great Stanley Kubrick's Barry Lyndon. It's the seductive scene in which Ryan O'Neal seduces Marisa Barenson without saying a word. They don't make them like this anymore.
Thanks for the Dave Grusin .. his digital remakes of Glenn Miller's work back in the 80's remain among my favorites. Doesn't he live in Aspen / Pitkin County?
