It is clear to me what is stressing the bees: The fact that stupid greedy humans are moving them all the time. I have no doubt bees want to reside in one domain for an extended duration as it is natural to them as a species which evolved to live in a defined territory focused on the hive. Constantly disorienting them by rapidly moving them from here to there all the time--to satisfy market forces-- will turn out to be the cause. Simple but profound. I bet that if someone does a study they will find a correlation between CCD and the decline of stationary bee keeping practices.

Let us call it bee jet-lag syndrome.

R. Nemo.
