This year's last Remedy du Jour features jazz pianist Robert Glasper, whose quiet, soulful style fits my winter mood. I particularly like his 2007 Blue Note album In My Element, so I've included four tunes from it. Glasper is playing in a trio backed by Vicente Archer on bass and Damion Reid playing drums.
I hope you've enjoyed at least some of the music I've played for you in 2012. As always, I urge you support contemporary musicians making quality music. In the Corporate Age, you must find a way to get around or climb over the Wall of Manure which pervasive commercialism creates to seek out those whose voice is worth listening to. They will appreciate it, and so will you.
Here's the playlist.
- A live performance, with Glasper talking about his background.
