Today I'm featuring Aimee Mann, who is one of my favorite singer/songwriters. She's got a new album coming out this month called Charmer, and I've included a few of the new songs today. With Aimee, you've got to listen to her insightful lyrics (follow the link). Aimee's also got a great sense of humor, as you'll see when you watch the "official" Charmer video below, which also features actress Laura Linney as Aimee's robot double.
Speaking of robot doubles, you should know that I don't actually write this blog. My robot double writes it. I myself never get out of bed — why bother? The world's way too fucking depressing to get out of bed for!
- Charmer (off the new album)
- Free Man In Paris (Joni Mitchell cover)
- Labrador (off the new album)
- Soon Enough (off the new album)
- Aimee Mann in Portlandia (the sitcom)
Dave, If you are into interesting music with lyrics that you can dig, you should check out Spritualized, J spaceman from spacemen 3(a band from the late 80's)s band. his latest albumn, Sweet Heart Sweet Light, Is the only albumn that has ever brought me to tears. you might find some of his stuff a bit too abrasive, but his arrangements with strings may be up you alley. Download a couple of albumns and give it a try.
lyric sample:" We should be reachin' for the top now/ Its been a 100,000 years. WE should be reachin for the top now/ instead we're choking back the tears."
Dude gets it.

Portlandia is more of a sketch show than a sitcom.
