Take a break Dave.

Before the burnout really kicks in.

I can think of a project worthy of your talent, knowledge and intellect.

Someone needs to write an easy to understand book or article which lays out in layman's terms the causes and actual "what happened" behind the big oil runup to $147 a few years ago and its' collapse afterwards, and why these things keep happening.

I know you have posted about it but I am thinking book that you can make a mint off of, so you can head off to Bora Bora and just kick back with a cool drink and a hot woman and chill.

In return, I would appreciate a signed copy of said book.

Ben

Homo sapiens are fuck ups by nature, as a consequence our media is provided with lots and lots of fuck ups to report.

I second Bill McDonald! Lay off of the news for a bit, and write that book. Or serialized it here.

"The news" as conveyed today is by its nature a litany of things that went wrong spectacularly enough to rivet people's attention, things that aren't really scary but can be made to sound so, and reassuring BS to calm people down enough that they might notice the ads. The bad stuff is sad, and the BS and hypocracy is enough to give anyone intelligent an aneurism. Make it "not your job" for awhile to look at that stuff.

Also, on a daily basis, ride a bike in a park, listen to some free or cheap live music, hang out in a dog park (if you like dogs) and observe their interactions, kibbitz with some friends, and so forth. There is a lot that isn't bad and sad that is also always around, ad infinitem, and you deserve to focus on that more.

Protect your heart and mind, throw away the tv. There is nothing real there except propaganda and mind control in order to numb and dumb people down.
I agree that you should write a book, spend time outdoors, do some good deeds, etc. to help you stay of right mindfulness. Being human by turn is a sad thing, a blessed thing, a terrible thing, magical and sickening...all at the same time. It's quite a meditation.
For me, the severely disabled kids and their parents who I work with are my real teachers, and remind me of what is truly important in life. My animals provide amusement and wonder as well as the true meaning of giving and friendship. Standing in the dark under the stars also puts me in the right relationship, although I always apologize to the Moon now that they bombed her and to all the plants and animals and innocents that are hurt by us. In many ways I am ashamed to be part of the human race ...we cause so much pain. That is why I have to balance that out the best way I can for myself. It's interesting to think about all the lives that have come and gone through the millenia...we're not so important after all.

Posit: Humans are rational
Definition of insanity (per Einstein): “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results"
Observation: Human beings constantly watch/listen to/read the news expecting something different to happen.
Conclusion: Theory is wrong, humans are not rational.
