When I lived in Boulder, Colorado, I went to the Conference On World Affairs every year. The conference was always held during the second week of April at the University of Colorado. Roger Ebert participated each year starting in the late 60s until health issues finally forced him to miss it. Award winning jazz pianist and film music magician Dave Grusin attended CU, and each year he brought some of his musical pals with him. The concerts they would do during the week were always a highlight for me. So today I am featuring some of Dave's music. You might want to poke around the Dave Grusin Archive to find out just how many fine musical scores and albums he has done. Sometimes the best part of a movie he did was the score. Here's the playlist.
- She Could Be Mine (with Nelson Rangell, Don Grusin, and other LA guys)
- Modaji (by Harvey Mason, a very Grusin-like tune which Dave has covered)
- Theme from St. Elsewhere (live, with Lee Ritnour)
- Theme from 3 Days Of The Condor
